Non-marine invertebrate trace fossils from the Tertiary Calatayud-Teruel basin, NE Spain

چکیده
Relatively diverse trace fossils made by insects, other arthropods and oligochaete worms occur in the Miocene lacustrine marginal deposits of Calatayud-Teruel basin (NE Spain). They include ichnospecies Celliforma isp., Celliforma? isp. A B, aff. habari, Rosellichnus cf. arabicus, Spongeliomorpha Labyrintichnus terrerensis n. igen. et Taenidium barreti, Beaconites filiformis Polykladichnus aragonensis Their taxonomic ethologic interpretations cross-cutting relationships permit to envisage new lines evidence for reconstructing transitions from dry-ground terrestrial moist-ground subaqueous environments, related episodic floodings ponds. These environmental (related external controls) are characterized benthic community replacements, evinced vertical successions Termitichnus, Scoyenia Mermia-like ichnofacies.

shallow marine trace fossils from upper devonian sediments of the kuh-e zard, zefreh area, central iran
upper devonian sediments of the kuh-e zard area northwest of zefreh, central iran, arecomposed mainly of brown and grey limestones with sandstone and shale intercalations. they contain tracefossils such as chondrites isp., diplocraterion parallelum, fustiglyphus annulatus, lockeia isp., phycodesisp., and taenidium barretti. these trace fossils indicate a shallow marine environment
متن کاملTowards Predicting Basin-Wide Invertebrate Organic Biomass and Production in Marine Sediments from a Coastal Sea
Detailed knowledge of environmental conditions is required to understand faunal production in coastal seas with topographic and hydrographic complexity. We test the hypothesis that organic biomass and production of subtidal sediment invertebrates throughout the Strait of Georgia, west coast of Canada, can be predicted by depth, substrate type and organic flux modified to reflect lability and ag...
متن کاملTrace Fossils from the Campanian - Maastrichtian Enugu Formation of the Anambra Basin, South-eastern Nigeria: Implications for Paleoenvironmental Interpretation
The Enugu Formation is a member of the Nkporo Group, and forms part of the basal stratigraphic unit of the Anambra Basin in south-eastern Nigeria. The Enugu Formation has been the subject of many studies concerning stratigraphy [1], depositional environments [2; Onuigbo et al. [3], organic geochemistry [4-6], paleoecology [7], palynology [7-9] and ichnology [10]. Nwajide & Reijers [2] were the ...
متن کاملSource and diagenesis of Middle Jurassic marine mudstones, Kopet-Dagh Basin, NE Iran
Middle Jurassic fluvio-deltaic and turbiditic mudstones of the Kashafrud Formation, are important hydrocarbon sources in the gas-rich Kopet-Dagh Basin, northeast Iran. Clay mineral assemblages are important for interpretation of sediment provenance and for understanding burial diagenetic cementation in sandstones. The clay mineral assemblages in mudrocks in two areas, Saleh-Abad and Senjedak, w...
متن کاملBehavioral biology of trace fossils
—The potential of the ichnofossil record for exploring the evolution of behavior has never been fully realized. Some of this is due to the nature of the trace fossil record itself. Equally responsible is the separation of ichnology from the relevant areas of modern behavioral biology. The two disciplines have virtually no concepts, methods, or literature in common. The study of animal behavior ...
